What to-go QR ordering means

To-go QR ordering is takeaway ordering from a QR code that does not belong to a table. The guest scans it, picks items from the menu, sends the order, and comes to the counter to collect it. In QckOrder the order is marked To go from the moment it arrives.

It uses the same menu, cart and orders board as QR ordering per table. Only the code is different, so there is nothing separate to set up.

How a code gives a to-go order

Each location has a To go / counter code, shown in the dashboard on the location page. Any code without a table label also makes a to-go order, and links printed before this feature, such as the bare location link, keep working and give To go orders too.

  • The To go / counter code of the location is made for the counter, takeaway bags or the door
  • A code you add without a label gives To go orders as well
  • A code with a label such as "12" gives a table order
  • Every QR code is unique and can carry a label, and the to-go code marks orders as to go.

What your staff see on a to-go order

The order is marked To go everywhere your team looks at it, so nobody has to guess whether to carry a plate or bag it up. The orders board has a filter for tables and to go, so a busy counter can look at takeaway orders only.

What the guest sees and shows at pickup

After sending the order, the guest gets a status page that follows each step your team takes. It says To go in the guest's own language, for example "Na wynos" in Polish or "Para llevar" in Spanish, and it shows the order number.

At the counter the guest shows that number from their phone, and your team finds the order on the board by it. The page updates by itself, so the guest watches it move to ready.

What to-go ordering does not do

To-go ordering is a way to receive takeaway orders from a QR code. Know the limits before you rely on it.

  • There is no delivery: guests collect their order from your venue
  • There are no pickup time slots and no scheduling, so orders go to your team as they arrive
  • There is no online payment: guests pay the venue when they collect, and staff mark the order as paid
  • There is no SMS or push message when the order is ready: the guest watches the status page

To-go ordering: questions

How does QckOrder know an order is to go?

The order came from a code that has no table label. That is the To go / counter code of the location, a code you added without a label, or an older bare location link. Staff see To go on the ticket, and the guest sees it on the status page.

Can guests pay online for a to-go order?

No. QckOrder does not take payment online. The guest pays the venue when collecting the order, by cash or card, and your team marks the order as paid in the dashboard.

Does the guest get a message when the order is ready?

No. There is no SMS or push message. After ordering, the guest keeps the status page open on their phone and watches the order move to ready, then shows the order number at the counter.

Can guests choose a pickup time?

No. There are no pickup time slots and no scheduling. An order reaches your team as soon as it is sent, and the team prepares it in the order it arrives.

How many QR codes do I need?

Each QR code you create is unique and can carry a label such as "12" or "Terrace 4". The label shows on every order from that code. The location's own code, "To go / counter", has no label and marks orders as to go. Download each code as a PNG, or print one sheet with all of them.

Is there a fee on top of the plan price?

Yes. On top of the plan price, QckOrder charges 1% of the value of completed orders placed through QckOrder. Cancelled orders are not counted. It is calculated per calendar month and invoiced monthly. QckOrder does not collect guest payments: guests pay your venue.
