What your team sees in the orders list

Place an order on the phone. This panel then shows it as your team sees it in the orders list.

This demo shows both sides at once. In QckOrder, new orders appear on your team's list by themselves within about 15 seconds, and guests see status changes on their order page without doing anything.

Where a bakery or ice-cream counter slows down

  • A queue out of the door at the morning rush

People in the queue scan the code and choose while they wait. By the time they reach the counter their order is already on your board, so serving takes less talking.

  • Customers cannot decide what they want

Every item can carry a photo, a name and a description. Customers see the whole display on their phone and choose in their own time, without holding up the line.

  • Questions about allergens and vegan options

Mark allergens and dietary tags on each item in the dashboard. Customers see what you entered on the item, so fewer people have to ask at the counter.

  • The tray is empty but the item is still on offer

Mark an item as sold out in the dashboard as the tray empties. It stays visible, but customers can no longer add it to an order.

How QR ordering works at a counter

  1. Customers scan the counter code

The code on the counter, the window or the queue sign opens your menu in the phone browser. No app and no account.

  2. They choose from the photos and send the order

Customers browse items with photos, check allergens and dietary tags, add what they want and send the order. It arrives marked To go.

  3. The team picks it up from the orders board

A new order appears on the board with a sound. Staff accept it, pack it, move it to ready and mark it paid when the customer pays by cash or card.

Where the code goes in a bakery or ice-cream shop

The code with no label is the To go / counter code, and it does most of the work. Add labelled codes only if you have seats.

  • The counter

Put the To go / counter code beside the till area or on a stand, where customers wait. Every order from it is marked To go.

  • The queue or the window

A sign along the queue, or on the serving window, lets people order before they reach the front. It suits an ice-cream window in summer.

  • Café seats, if you have them

Give each table or window seat a labelled code, such as "Window 2", so the order shows where to bring it.

Would it cover its cost at your venue?

Enter your own numbers to see how many QR orders it takes to cover a plan and the 1% on completed orders, based on the staff time you spend taking orders.

The starting values are examples, not statistics, and they change with the venue type picked above. Replace them with yours. Enter the orders of one venue; Pro covers up to three, so compare it with their orders added together.

Your estimate

If guests placed those orders by QR instead of staff taking them, that is about 70 hours a month, worth $1,190 at your rate, against $245 for Growth: the plan price plus 1% of the value of those completed orders.

On these numbers the time is worth $945 more than the QckOrder cost.

The plan price and the 1% are covered at about 139 QR orders a month.

How this is calculated
  • QR orders per month = orders per day × days open × QR share
  • Staff hours = QR orders per month × minutes per order ÷ 60
  • Value of time = staff hours × staff cost per hour
  • QckOrder cost = plan price + QR orders per month × average order value × 1%
  • Break-even orders = plan price ÷ (minutes per order ÷ 60 × staff cost − average order value × 1%)

Bakery and ice-cream shop QR ordering: questions

Can customers order for a later day or time?

No. QckOrder has no pre-orders for a later day or time slot. Customers order when they are at the shop, and your team prepares the order straight away. There is no delivery either: customers collect their order.

How do allergens and dietary tags work?

You choose allergens and dietary tags on each item in the dashboard. The menu shows what you entered. QckOrder does not check recipes, so keeping the information correct stays with you.

What happens when an item sells out?

Mark the item as sold out in the dashboard. It stays on the menu so customers can see it, but they cannot add it to an order. QckOrder does not track stock, so you decide when to mark it.

Can I sell items in different sizes?

Items have no size options. Add each size or variant, such as a single scoop and a double, as its own menu item with its own photo and price.

How do guests pay?

They pay the venue as they do today, by cash or card. QckOrder does not process payments. Your team marks each order as paid, by cash or card, in the dashboard.

How many QR codes do I need?

Each QR code you create is unique and can carry a label such as "12" or "Terrace 4". The label shows on every order from that code. The location's own code, "To go / counter", has no label and marks orders as to go. Download each code as a PNG, or print one sheet with all of them.
