QR ordering per table

QR code ordering at the table: one code per table

Give each table its own QR code. When a guest scans it and orders, the order reaches your team with the table name already on it, so nobody has to ask where to bring the food.

What is table QR ordering?

Table QR ordering means every table has its own QR code, and an order placed from that code carries the table with it. In QckOrder you add your tables in the dashboard, print a code for each one, and your team sees the table on every order.

It sits on top of the normal QR ordering for restaurants: the same menu, the same cart, the same order flow. Only the code on the table is different.

How you set up your tables

Open a location in the dashboard and add its tables. You can add them one by one, or create a whole range at once, for example tables 1 to 20, and the numbers that already exist are skipped.

A table name can be up to 40 characters, so "12" and "Terrace 4" both work. If you rename a table, print its card again: the printed code carries the old name.

What your staff see

The table is on every order. Staff see it on the ticket in the live board, in the order history and in the order detail, so the person carrying the plate knows where to go.

New orders reach the board within about 15 seconds while the dashboard is open. The live order screen page explains how the board and its sound work.

What guests see, and the codes you already have

A guest who scans a table code sees the table name in the menu and on the order page after sending the order. They do not type anything to say where they sit.

The venue-wide code keeps working. Use it for takeaway or the counter, where an order has no table. Codes you printed before tables existed still open your menu. If you delete a table, its past orders stay in the history with the table name on them.

What table ordering does not do

Know the limits before you print. These are the main ones today.

  • The guest cannot change the table in the app. To move to another table, they scan the code on that table
  • There is no split bill
  • There is no payment at the table in the app. Staff mark the order as paid after the guest pays the venue by cash or card

Table QR ordering: questions

How does table QR ordering work?

You add tables in the dashboard and print a QR code for each one. A guest scans the code on their table, orders from the menu on their phone, and the order reaches your team with the table name shown on the ticket.

Can I add many tables at once?

Yes. Add tables one by one, or create a range such as 1 to 20 in one step. Numbers that already exist are skipped. A table name can be up to 40 characters, so names like Terrace 4 work as well as plain numbers.

How do I print the table codes?

Each table downloads as a PNG with its name under the code. You can also print a sheet with six codes per A4 page, or take single cards for table tents. Then place each card on the table it belongs to.

Do the QR codes I printed before still work?

They stay in your order history with the table name on them. Deleting a table only removes it from the list of tables, so nothing is lost from your records. A printed card for a deleted table still opens the menu, but orders from it carry no table.

What happens to past orders if I delete a table?

They stay in your order history with the table name on them. Deleting a table only removes it from the list of tables. A printed card for a deleted table still opens the menu, but orders from it carry no table.

Can guests change table or split the bill?

No. The guest cannot change the table in the app, so a guest who moves scans the code on the new table. There is no split bill, and no payment at the table in the app. Guests pay the venue, and staff mark the order as paid.
