What your team sees in the orders list

Place an order on the phone. This panel then shows it as your team sees it in the orders list.

This demo shows both sides at once. In QckOrder, new orders appear on your team's list by themselves within about 15 seconds, and guests see status changes on their order page without doing anything.

Where a canteen slows down at lunch

  • Everyone arrives in the same twenty minutes

Guests order from their phone while they queue or after they sit, so fewer orders are taken at the counter during the peak and the queue moves.

  • Dishes run out before the queue does

Mark a dish as sold out in the dashboard. Guests still see it on the menu but cannot order it, so nobody queues for a dish that is gone.

  • The menu changes every day

Make a menu for each day and switch the active menu of the location each morning. Guests see the new menu on their next scan, and nothing is reprinted.

  • You cannot tell when the rush really starts

The statistics show orders by hour, so you can see which hour is busiest and plan how many people work the counter.

How QR ordering works in a canteen

  1. Guests scan at the entrance or the table

A code at the entrance or the queue, and codes on the tables, open today's menu in the phone browser. No app and no account.

  2. They order what is on today

Guests see the active menu in their language, with sold-out dishes unavailable and allergens shown. They add dishes, leave a note and send the order.

  3. The kitchen works the board

Orders appear on the orders board with a sound. Orders from the entrance code are marked to go, and table codes show their label. Staff mark an order paid after the guest pays them by cash or card.

Where the codes go in a canteen

Use the unlabelled to-go / counter code for guests who collect, and labelled codes where people sit.

  • Entrance and queue

The "To go / counter" code has no label. Orders from it are marked to go, and guests collect them at the counter.

  • Tables and seating zones

Label codes by table or zone, such as "Hall 12" or "Terrace", so staff know where to bring an order.

  • Food court with one kitchen

A food court that shares one kitchen and one menu needs one location. Stands that run their own kitchen are better set up as separate locations.

Would it cover its cost at your venue?

Enter your own numbers to see how many QR orders it takes to cover a plan and the 1% on completed orders, based on the staff time you spend taking orders.

The starting values are examples, not statistics, and they change with the venue type picked above. Replace them with yours. Enter the orders of one venue; Pro covers up to three, so compare it with their orders added together.

Your estimate

If guests placed those orders by QR instead of staff taking them, that is about 70 hours a month, worth $1,190 at your rate, against $245 for Growth: the plan price plus 1% of the value of those completed orders.

On these numbers the time is worth $945 more than the QckOrder cost.

The plan price and the 1% are covered at about 139 QR orders a month.

How this is calculated
  • QR orders per month = orders per day × days open × QR share
  • Staff hours = QR orders per month × minutes per order ÷ 60
  • Value of time = staff hours × staff cost per hour
  • QckOrder cost = plan price + QR orders per month × average order value × 1%
  • Break-even orders = plan price ÷ (minutes per order ÷ 60 × staff cost − average order value × 1%)

Canteen QR ordering: questions

Can staff pay by payroll deduction or meal voucher?

No. QckOrder has no payroll deduction, meal vouchers or meal subsidies. Guests pay the counter staff by cash or card, and staff mark the order as paid in the dashboard.

Can guests pre-order for a time slot?

No. There is no pre-ordering for a time slot and no pickup times. An order goes to the kitchen when the guest sends it, so QckOrder suits ordering during service, not booking tomorrow's lunch.

Can students or employees log in with an account?

No. There are no student or staff accounts, balances or meal plans. Guests need no account, and QckOrder does not know who a guest is.

How do I change the menu every day?

Create a menu for each day and switch the active menu of the location in the dashboard. It is a manual switch, not a schedule, so someone changes it before service starts.

Which languages can guests read the menu in?

Polish, English, Italian, Spanish and Japanese. You enter each item, category and menu in the languages you turn on, and guests switch language from the menu header; the buttons and labels of the guest page switch with it. Starter includes two menu languages, Growth and Pro all five.

Is there a fee on top of the plan price?

Yes. On top of the plan price, QckOrder charges 1% of the value of completed orders placed through QckOrder. Cancelled orders are not counted. It is calculated per calendar month and invoiced monthly. QckOrder does not collect guest payments: guests pay your venue.
